Tumakuru

Tumakuru (also known as Tumkur) is a city in southern India’s state of Karnataka — the headquarters of its district. It sits at an elevation of about 822 meters and lies roughly 65–70 km northwest of Bengaluru. The city blends a background of hills and coconut-tree landscape — earning it nicknames like “Kalpatharu Nadu” (land of coconuts) — with growing modern infrastructure and connectivity.

Tumakuru has developed into an important hub for education, industry, and food processing. It hosts several colleges and a university, making it a regional centre for learning. At the same time, it’s home to India’s first “Mega Food Park” — a facility aimed at boosting food-processing units — and hosts a diverse mix of small to medium-scale industries.
